Back, jetlag sucks.
3 year olds with jetlag are.... not fun. Sam is officially a charter member of "Kids Against Being For Stuff".

Because nobody else seems to have said anything.

Safe journeys Karol Jozef Wojtyla. You made huge steps for the church in your time, steps that hopefully have laid the groundwork for more changes in the future. Though I haven't always agreed with the stands the Catholic church has taken I admire your strength and dedication. You brought the church to the world and didn't simply sit in the Vatican getting your ring kissed. Do widzenia.

Saw that and thought of [info]eyewrist
Personally I think that one, cheese maker or chocolatier sounds like fun. Actually most of them would probably be a blast for a day or two. :)

mmmm latex

"The majority -- 84 percent -- of the survey respondents said they take necessary steps to prevent catching an STD, but 82 percent of the sexually active participants said they never use barrier protection when having oral sex." - CNN article

Frankly, knowing what condoms taste like, I'm surprised that 18% DO use them for oral sex. Maybe all the health researchers should do a little taste testing of their own before looking to harshly at the general public.

Given that oral sex seems to be thought of as a "safe" alternative to having regular sex, maybe the industry should get pressured into offering high quality condoms that don't taste like the inside of a rubber glove. Even (for example) strawberry flavored funk latex isn't a whole heck of a lot better, and half the time they are "novelty" condoms that don't have to be as good as the regular ones anyway.

This isn't meant as a defense of making stupid decisions btw, if you are going to be casual about sex, glove it.

My body is seriously lacking in clue. I go from days of having tons of energy to just wanting to sit on the couch and pretend that my dishes don't exist. 90% of the time I end up awake by 7-8AM and then have a tough time going to sleep when I should.

It doesn't help that these days an early morning trip to the bathroom (of which there are many) tends to trigger junior into a frenzy of activity. I have to say, it's REALLY hard to go back to sleep when you have someone practicing gymnastics in your stomach.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a non-morning-kid but it will probably take a couple years to see how that works out.

I got to hear the baby's heartbeat today. :)
S/he was moving all over the place though so it took the doctor a bit to track the little bugger down. I seem to be right on schedule though and no apparent problems.

Baby Shower

For those that don't know already, we will be in Rochester next week (from the 11th to the 17th actually). On the 15th (Sunday afternoon) my family will be having a baby shower at my parent's house. :)

I think most of my female type friends living in the area are on my friends list here so it seemed easier than trying to track emails down without my addressbook. Gift type stuff not really needed since even my family has to curb their buying impulses so they let us back on the plane. I'm a little scared. lol

Just let me know if you think you can make it. (Responding here is ok, no internet yet so emailing me is useless.) Becky, Sue (if someone could poke Sue I would appreciate it since I don't know if she even checks), Liz C., this means you!

I don't *think* there are any other girlies in the area on my lj list but if I have left you out it wasn't intentional and feel free to whap me. :/

Bleh

I feel like crap. I think I've slept more in the last day and a half than I have the whole rest of the week. Bad timing since we have to get our whole apartment packed up today. :(

Busy day in VoK

I just finished mentoring 3 new players in atitd. (www.atitd.com) Yay! :)
It's nice to have newbies around, but it takes soooo long to mentor people. Hopefully one or two of them will stick around, the latest PCZone has it on their cd so it seems like we have gotten a lot of people through that. Getting back up over 2000 players would be nice. Maybe a few of them will help me finish building my pyramid. :D

May all 0ur base someday be belong to you!
May j00 0wn earth just like j00 0wn heaven.
Give us this day our warez, mp3z, and pr0n through a phat pipe.
And cut us some slack when we act like n00b lamerz, just as we teach n00bz when they act lame on us.
Please don't give us root access on some poor d00d'z box when we're too pissed off to think about what's right and wrong, and if you could keep the fbi off our backs, we'd appreciate it.

Ew.

So, just got back from our local "supermarket". (In quotes because nothing the size of a 7/11 should count as a supermarket) Their meat is never exactly top of the line, but it is usually ok if you go by what has come in recently. I was thinking chicken for dinner tonight but they only had 1 thing of it left which is usually a sign to plan for something else. Then I noticed a huge pile of ground chuck packages. They were all marked 10 kroner (about a buck 50) which would be cheap in the States and is downright insane here in Oslo. Thinking something was amiss I looked a little closer, they were all marked with a last use date of yesterday. Ew. Even at that price I refuse to use iffy quality expired meat products. Pre-packaged hot dogs seemed the safer option, scary.

Yay!

They are letting us back in! :)
Watch out USA, we are coming for your cheap food!!
Chris and I are leaving for the states next month on the first. We will be in Rochester until the middle/end of the next week when we head down to Otakon. (yay!) After that it's over to his mother's place for some more family time and probably a day in nyc.

It's going to be so nice to be home, even for a short time. I'm not looking forward to heading back here though. Not that life is so bad, but it will be nice to be around friendly english speaking faces for a bit.

Ok, so life here is going pretty well I suppose. The weather is unusually nice for this time of year, classes are going well and all in all things seem on the up. The superbowl came and went in the States and most of us here don't even know who played let alone who won. It would have been pointless watching it anyway since we wouldn't get the cool commercials.

It really is nice having some sun again. It didn't seem so bad, but in retrospect it was grey here for a really long time. This is the first real letup on the weather since midoctoberish.

I should really sign up for a slot to do our laundry, somehow | always manages to not be around when it happens... bleh...
Don't you hate it when you start one of these things and suddenly discover that you really don't have anything to say at the moment?

Oh well, on a lighter note.

Restless times call for restless measures

Ok, I don't deal very well with being on my own. I don't get all weepy or depressed or anything, I just get really restless. Like I have to get out my thoughts in little doses all day or they just build up into one big ball of spaz by the end of the night.

I wonder if Chris is drunk. I hope not, I've never seen him drunk and if he is going to end up smashed I want to be there!

soooo tired.... This past week has been fun since I got to start taking Norwegian classes. I am so tired though, I haven't had to get up early in the morning and actually DO stuff for months. I'm a lazy bum, I know. But at least I was getting up with Chris in the morning, its not like I slept in very often.

Class is interesting, about 30 people from about 20 different countries. They all speak English more or less though so it's not that hard to communicate. Everyone I've talked to is there because of some guy/girl they met who managed to convince them to move to Oslo somehow. We think it might be some sort of Norwegian gene pool widening program... hmm.....

Beginning the process all over again

Ok, so we are moving (again) as of today. Internet access will be spotty at best but we will try to keep people generally informed about our situation. Wish us luck. I should probably tear down my computer now... bleh. Oh well, I think it's for the best in the long run.

My Enneagram Test Result : 9
Nines are open minded optimists. They are able to see everyones point of view, and have a natural desire for making peace. Consequently, they are skilled mediators. They often live by the 'go along to get along' creed. However their openess to other people can cause them to lose site of themselves and their own happiness.
